Saturate 2020 adherents are those who are drunk and think they can save the planet

Commentators seem to think that this section of Habakkuk was addressing the Ceasars and their drunken desire for power.  Seems these two things often go together.

Those who love drunk in the spirit are no exception.  They are trying to get others to share in their debauchery and the false hope of an end-times worldwide revival, currently through the Saturate 2020 events.  Though these were two of the heretical distinctives of the New Order of the Latter Rain, these ideas are nothing new.  The righteous continue to live by faith, while the proud boast in their drunken state.

Habakkuk 2:4-5 “Behold, as for the proud one, his soul is not right within him; but the righteous will live by his faith.

The proud, boastful adherents to the Latter Rain are not right in their spirit.  They have allowed another spirit to control their lives.

“Furthermore, wine betrays the haughty man, so that he does not stay at home. He enlarges his appetite like Sheol, and he is like death, never satisfied. He also gathers to himself all nations and collects to himself all peoples.

They revel in “drunkenness in the spirit” which propels them to seek out more and more people to join them in their debauchery.  They foolishly claim they are going to take over the world.

Ephesians 5:18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,

2 Peter 2:13 They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

Because they have a drunken urge to get others to join their party, they become Dominionists and try to gather all nations and peoples to themselves.  They think that playing loud rock music in public will cause people to worship the Lord.

Matthew 15:9 But in vain do they worship Meteaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’”

Isaiah 5:11-15 Woe to those who rise early in the morning that they may pursue strong drink,
Who stay up late in the evening that wine may inflame them!

They spend all their time trying to get the high they had when they first got slain in the spirit.  They travel from counterfeit revival to counterfeit revival to get a recharge when the impartation fades out.

Their banquets are accompanied by lyre and harp, by tambourine and flute, and by wine;
But they do not pay attention to the deeds of the Lord, nor do they consider the work of His hands.

The emphasis is on loud music so they can dance around and act like they are worshipping the Lord.  But the fact is they do not pay attention to the actual deeds of God through His servants, in fact, they mock anyone who will not join them in their revelry.

Therefore My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge, and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude is parched with thirst.

Because of their counterfeit revivals and slain in the spirit fests, they cause people to be famished for real spiritual food.  They are starving for something more but get no real spiritual nourishment from their false apostles and false prophets.

Amos 8:11 “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land— not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord.

Isaiah 5:14 Therefore Sheol has enlarged its throat and opened its mouth without measure;
And Jerusalem’s splendor, her multitude, her din of revelry and the jubilant within her, descend into it.

Isaiah 5:15 So the common man will be humbled and the man of importance abased,
The eyes of the proud also will be abased.

The proud will come to judgment.  They desperately need to repent and be saved.  Yet every day they increase their number.  Only the remnant church is left to serve the Lord and warn them of their coming judgment.

Revelation 2:5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

2 Corinthians 7:10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
