WCGIP Davao Event Planned To Redeem The "Cross"
by Sandy Simpson, 6/23/06

The following from the current Wiconi "Smoke Signals" Newsletter is a perfect example of why Christians everywhere need to get the word out for indigenous churches to avoid this Indigenous People's movement. This kind of teaching and demonstration is screwy thinking.

WORLD CHRISTIAN GATHERING ON INDIGENOUS PEOPLE

It is less than 100 days to the sixth WCGIP, being hosted in Davao City in the Philippines. It was 11 years ago at the inaugural gathering in New Zealand where so many of us were spiritually impacted in a way that changed our lives forever. Terry LeBlanc and I are hoping for at least 50 Native people who will attend, representing the Father’s work among the tribes of “Turtle Island.” Visit www.wcgip.org for all the details.

A note from Pio Arce, chairman of this years WCGIP: “We hope that you are keeping track and have been praying for the WCGIP Philippine gathering. Our team has been trying our best to make this a successful event. We are currently meeting with pastors of different churches in Davao City, the host city for their support for the event. We already have positive responses. The program and workshops are being finalized. Different fund raising efforts are in the works to help subsidize the costs of tribal people coming from far-flung areas of the islands. A large amount is needed to help them.

So far we have more than 100 people who are signed up with 67 registrants coming from International participants. Please bring a stone to represent your tribe or nation when yo u come. We will ask you to place this on the cross which will be a monument for this world gathering in the Philippines. There will be a re-creation of Philippine history wherein the cross would be re-planted in the Philippine shore. The cross came to this island with a conquering spirit brought about by the Spanish conquest in the 16th century.  The leadership of WCGIP Philippines would like to redeem that with indigenous peoples from all over the world bringing the gospel with a servant-spirit. We have already announced that we are publishing a magazine for the gathering. We need articles or write ups that you feel relevant to the aspirations of WCGIP. Please limit the length of your articles. We welcome re-print from your recent publication (just please make sure you have a permission from your publisher). Deadline for submission is extended up to June 30.

Excited to see you here, -- Mr. Pio G. Arce (Smoke Signals - Alaska Mentasta Village Report, Richard Twiss, Jun 23, 2006)

The 6th WCGIP event will focus on what Spanish Catholics did in the Philippines in the 16th century without mention of what Protestants did in preaching the Gospel in the 19th and 20th centuries.  This shows that (1) they apparently think Catholics were actually preaching the true Gospel in the 1500's and (2) that Christianity is responsible for problems they have in Davao.

The facts are these:

(1) The Spanish did not preach the true Gospel but a corrupted heretical Catholic works salvation.  Later many Protestant missionaries came and gave their lives, in some cases literally, to preach the true Gospel to the people of Davao.  The current problems in that area of the world do not come from Christianity, but from Islam.

(2) How can the WCGIP repent for sins committed by Catholics in the 16th century unless they are working with them now?  The fact is that they are.  Therefore they think they need to repent for them, but in doing so they are bringing the true Gospel into disrepute.

2 Pet. 2:1-3  But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
Peter's warning is right to the point of the leadership of the WCGIP.  We have shown repeatedly that they are secretly introducing destructive heresies, that they have many who follow their shameful ways and that they have brought the truth into disrepute by making up mythologies about their cultures out of their own heads rather than based on historical and biblical truth.

What is behind this movement is actually a Two-Thirds worldview that is very bigoted against Europeans and Americans who are constantly vilified in the eyes of the world in order to excuse themselves for their own lack of initiative in preaching the Gospel to the nations.  This is abundantly clear when you read the works of Richard Twiss, Daniel Kikawa and listen to people like Terry LeBlanc.  The only purpose this act of planting the cross serves is to legitimize the Catholic false gospel, claim ground taken from the enemy by the spilt blood of Protestant missionaries from all over the world including American and Europeans, and build a following for the blasphemous doctrines of the WCGIP leadership by proselytizing Christians from churches they did not plant into this heretical movement.
