A Whole Lot Of Wishful Thinking These Days!
by Sandy Simpson
This DVD series is a teaching based on this article.
In this DVD series I want to detail a number of beliefs people
have
these days that have no basis in Scripture. I am going to roam all
over the map, so to speak, and try to give fairly short answers on a
number
of topics and also give you useful links to articles that will help you
deal with any particular issue. It is truly amazing how many false
ideas people cling to without giving a thought to what the Bible has to
say on the subject.

DITC e-Newsletter Volume 27, Issue 9
|
Dear All,
"Replacement Theology" is currently being taught in churches in America with a total membership of over 100 million. Of course this includes churches that are also cults of Christianity and false religions such as Jehovah's Witness and Roman Catholicism. But this false doctrine has become pervasive in Christendom and has bolstered other false teachings such as Dominionism. The Church did not replace Israel.
Rom. 11:28-29 As far as the gospel is concerned, they (Israel) are enemies on your (Gentile believers) account; but as far as election is concerned, they (Israel) are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God's gifts and his call are irrevocable.
There are many prophecies and God's covenants with Israel that are yet to be fully fulfilled.
We continue to be in need of your help financially. Please consider ordering one of our products or making a donation.
As always, you can see the DITC e-Newsletter archive here and sign up to receive this newsletter or unsubscribe there as well.

Replacement
Theology |
by David Hocking, Hope For Today, 2/21/07
Replacement Theology is the belief that the Church of today has
replaced Israel in God's prophetic program. It teaches that God judged
the Nation of Israel for their sin and disobedience in the destruction
of Jerusalem and the Second Temple (Herod's restoration project) in 70
AD, and that Israel has forfeited the right to God's "everlasting
covenant"!

My
Life In 'THE WAY'
|
by Gaylene Goodroad Reviewed by
Herescope
For several years now
we have been aware of a booklet by Gaylene Goodroad, a parishioner at
Pastor Larry DeBruyn's Franklin Road Baptist Church
in Indianapolis. At the time we read early drafts of the book we were
excited about its contents and encouraged her to get it into people's
hands. We are pleased to announce that her booklet My Life In 'THE WAY'
is now available online as an e-book. At her new blog, Gaylene has
written:
"Its
been almost eighteen years since my conversion to Christ--and the
renouncement of both my black belts--but it wasn't until recently that
I fully realized the close kinship between the spiritual roots of the
martial arts and the Emergent/Contemplative spirituality engulfing the
Church of Jesus Christ. After some research, I discovered that the
devil's lie from Genesis 3 has been cleverly repackaged and marketed to
unsuspecting karate enthusiasts for hundreds of years, and is now
simpatico among many professing Christians...."

BOOK REVIEW - "Longing
for
God"
|
by Richard J. Foster and Gayle D. Beebe Reviewed by Gary
Gilley Of course, of a far more important concern is that a large percentage of
what these leaders taught lacks any biblical base whatsoever. Foster
and Beebe can tell us that there are seven paths to Christian devotion
but in reality most of these are dead ends at best. Lack of biblical
authority and majoring on esoteric experience, these highlighted mystics
have led countless thousands astray with their extra-biblical and
unbiblical teachings. Foster and Beebe do not understand this danger
and instead paint these false teachings as spiritual guides and
masters. The book is, for the most part, a collage of apostates and
their heretical teachings. Included are: Origen, Thomas Merton,
Francis of Assisi, Ignatius of Loyola, Julian of Norwich, George Fox,
Friedrich Schleiermacher, Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, among
others. It has value as a reference tool but not as a guide to
spiritual devotion and life. Unfortunately this book will
probably be read by many since it was Christianity Today's
book of the year for 2009 in the "spirituality" category.
