Discernment Link
The main objective of Discernment Ministries is to point Christians to the Word of God as their sole basis for faith and practice.
Many Christians are (often unwittingly) being led into mystical experiences and faith in something apart from the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ as expressed in the Holy Bible. Many sincere believers give more heed to an internal witness (and to their favorite minister or preacher) rather than searching the Scripture so as to confidently declare "it is written!"
Faith is not a force that we can wield to manipulate our circumstances, nor is it a means to gain "hidden truths" or "deeper knowledge" of God. These false premises are the springboard to mystical experience. It is the desire of this ministry to assist believers to assess what they hear, and test what they are taught by comparison to Scripture.
Always, the Word of God is our basis, our direction and our plumbline.

DITC e-Newsletter Volume 35, Issue 3 |
Dear All,
So much misinterpretation of the Bible out there today. In fact some are openly dismissive of the written Word and yet are allowed to speak in churches which have traditionally held the Scriptures as their highest authority in all matters of faith and practice. --- Please consider ordering one of our products or making a donation. As always, you can see the DITC e-Newsletter archive here and sign up to receive this newsletter or unsubscribe there as well. |
Apostolic Dominionism
| by Herescope, 9/13/11
Several years ago, on August 20, 2007, C. Peter Wagner sent out a letter to his "friends of Global Harvest," in which he shared the emerging structure of his New Apostolic Reformation. Exhibit 1, the graphic at the top of this post was attached to the bottom of his letter. His new reformation would be based upon the idea that apostles and prophets must be the cornerstone for achieving Dominion on earth. These apostles and prophets are said to be endowed with superior gifts. In 2007 we ran a 6-part series called "Networking the Church" in which we described this new apostolic structure, based on the writings of its leaders. Click here to read this article! |
Brian McLaren:12 Step groups may help us escape Bible
| by John Lanagan My Word Like Fire, 5/23/10
In his book, A New Kind of Christianity, Emergent leader Brian McLaren attacks Biblical understanding, and tries to revise both God and the Bible. In his chapter on reinterpreting God's Word, he notes, "Even for those of us on this quest, breaking out of centuries-old habits won't be easy...In the same paragraph, McLaren makes an interesting statement. "No wonder those of us who want and need to change our approach may need to form twelve-step groups to deprogram our thinking."

Another Hole in the Wall
| by Roger Oakland, 9/14/11
Are you willing to test all things, especially the spiritual leaders whom you have considered great men of God? Have you begun to notice a difference in what they stand for now? Is your pastor departing from the Scriptures to become part of a political Dominionist plan? Is he working together with leaders of Rome and other false religions? Or does he say nothing at all about these things and tell his congregation, "All is well." Jesus is coming soon! Why not be about your Father's business and reach out to those who are lost with the gospel according to the Scriptures? Take the time and look through the hole in the wall just like Ezekiel did. It will be very revealing.

The Promised One
| by Nancy Guthrie Reviewed by Gary Gilley
For those concerned about the overuse of typology and the dangers of allegoricalism and who believe, as I do, that God will yet fulfill His promises literally to Israel, I would not recommend The Promised One, although some good thoughts can be found.
