Featured Discernment Ministry
There is a "River" that is flowing into congregations all over the world. Deceptively beautiful, it gently carries you along after you've stepped into its teasing current for the first time, until the powerful undertow eventually pulls you midstream. Once there, while you plunge headlong into raging whitewater, the other shoreline is suddenly evident. Strewn with the wreckage of human lives and littered with the debris of false doctrine, this "River's" farther shore is at last visible, and it is frightening. They never told you about this part. They wouldn't. This website was born out of the need for the body of Christ to know about the dangers of the "River" movement. It goes by a lot of different names - the River Revival, Latter Rain, The Third Wave - and it is marked by bizarre manifestations, false prophecies and esoteric revelations. Warnings of divine retribution hold many adherents in a bondage of fear, making them afraid to speak out or even question those things they are taught and are witness to. But for the seeking heart, there is a way out, back into the freedom and simplicity of Christ Jesus, and to experience again the joy of following Him rather than the latest Christian fad. It is my hope to provide in this web site the Biblical knowledge and tools to help the seeker to honestly examine the teachings, practices, and beliefs of the "River," swim to shore, and get shed of its murky waters. Many have already done just that. I did.

Panentheism! What is That?
| by Orrel Steinkamp The Plumbline Volume 17, No. 3, May/June 2012
Have you ever heard of "panentheism"? It sounds a lot like pantheism but there are those two additional letters "en" inserted after "pan." The word broken into its constitute parts is pan=all, en= in, and theos=God. Panentheism is the belief the universe is contained within God and that the universe is part of God. Unwittingly protestant and evangelical leaders are embracing panentheism, thinking it just an ancient form of prayer, and discipleship flying under the radar with the alias of "Spiritual Formation." It appears that the pragmatics and superficiality of the seeker sensitive, market driven church has prompted a need for mystical medication. Larry Crabb, a popular evangelical Christian psychologist of the last decade and author of many books, has apparently graduated to the contemplative. He expresses clearly the bankruptcy of pragmatic seeker sensitive spirituality. For him the mindless mysticism of Contemplative Prayer has brought him reality he apparently never found in pragmatic seeker sensitive spirituality.

The Sacred Journey
| by Charles Foster Reviewed by Gary Gilley
This book is hardly worthy of a review. Foster fails at every point in his attempt to answer his own three questions. His twisting of Scripture is unconscionable. His distortion of reality is unbelievable. His conclusions are ridiculous. That Thomas Nelson is willing to publish such rubbish is a sign of how untrustworthy Christian publishing has become. My vocabulary is not large enough to express all the negatives that are found within this silly and godless volume.

TBN extravagance? Read internal memos for yourself | by Teri Sforza, OC Watchdog, 5/21/12
We've been telling you about the charges leveled by the granddaughter of Trinity Broadcasting Network's Paul and Jan Crouch, who accused the world's largest Christian broadcaster of playing fast and loose with the ministry's millions - and then provided internal documents to back up her claims. Trinity accused her of the true financial misdeeds, called her assertions nonsense, and tried to keep the internal documents she possessed under wraps. They were stolen, and may have been altered, Trinity says. We've been bringing you stories based on Brittany Koper's 180-page declaration (Confidential memo: 'TBN practices ... violate the IRS Code' and Extravagant spending a pervasive issue for Trinity, internal review says) for the past few days, but we hadn't posted the full Koper document, as it's quite large. There have been repeated requests for it from various corners over the past week, and so, after wrestling with Adobe Acrobat and WordPress, we've broken it into pieces.
