You need to "nip it in the bud"!
by Sandy Simpson I am writing this article to address a subject that I have often observed. It is the fact that if you do not get the leaven out of your church the leaven will become the leadership.The Bible teaches quite clearly that if you let the leaven in you will leaven the whole lump. Galatians 5:9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough. We see this often in the case of many "Christian" movements that have allowed a small error to exist in their churches and have not dealt with those issues. It then ends up metastasizing into worse and worse problems as time goes by.

Every Christian wants to see the church grow. Jesus made it clear before He ascended to the Father that His followers are to be His witnesses. Believers are called to share the good news of the gospel until He returns. We want to see our churches filled to overflowing. This is right. But what happens when the Christian church, in its zeal to reach the unconverted, begins to embrace methods to attract the lost that are extra-biblical?

| "Overtake you like a thief" |

1 Thessalonians 5:4 "But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief;" How serious will it be for a person to be overtaken in "that day" like a thief overtakes a household when he slips in and steals? Will it just be a surprise for those who claim to be Christians who will get a slap on the wrist by the Lord but still proceed to heaven? Will they simply lose rewards but still gain the ultimate reward? What is this darkness that the brethren are not in? 1 Thessalonians 5:3-5 "While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night or of darkness;"
