kind, considerate, and generous as possible.  Spare no efforts to please him, to enjoy him.  Make him believe you love him.  After you've convinced him of your undying love and that you cannot live without him, then drop the bomb.  Tell him that you're getting a divorce.  That will really hurt him." With revenge in her eyes, she smiled and exclaimed, "Beautiful, beautiful. Will he ever be surprised!" And she did it with enthusiasm.  Acting "as if." For two months she showed love, kindness, listening, giving, reinforcing, sharing.  When she didn't return, Crane called. "Are you ready now to go through with the divorce?" "Divorce?" she exclaimed.  "Never!  I discovered I really do love him." Her actions had changed her feelings.  Motion resulted in emotion.  The ability to love is established not so much by fervent promise as often repeated deeds.

Love is not only words but actions.
1 John 3:18   Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

It sometimes calls for sacrifice.  But many times that sacrifice yields a deeper love than we would have imagined.  Love also takes the effort of more than one person.

Heb 10:24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds.

Sometimes love is a sacrifice; we must give something up.  Have you made a sacrifice of love recently?

Let me pose this hypothetical situation: If everyone in the world discovered that they had five minutes left to say all they wanted to say to anyone they know, what would they do?  I venture to say every telephone booth in the world would be filled by people calling other people to tell them that they love them.

The question is: Why wait until the last five minutes?

Love Is Eternal

1 Cor. 13:1-13   If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.  If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part,  but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.  When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.  Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Love is the only thing that will remain in eternity.  Faith and hope will no longer be needed because the object of our faith, Jesus Christ, will be there with us.  We will no longer need hope because our hope of eternal life will be a reality.  But love never dies.  I believe that the love you show to others will continue on into eternity.
