A Whole Lot Of Wishful Thinking These Days!
by Sandy Simpson
In this DVD series I want to detail a number of beliefs people have these days that have no basis in Scripture. I am going to roam all over the map, so to speak, and try to give fairly short answers on a number of topics and also give you useful links to articles that will help you deal with any particular issue. It is truly amazing how many false ideas people cling to without giving a thought to what the Bible has to say on the subject.

DITC e-Newsletter Volume 33, Issue 3 |
Dear All,
One of the articles in this newsletter is by someone who worked for ElijahList. I have a 2-DVD Series on many false prophecies and teaching sent out by them here. I also have an article you can read on it here. That publication is endorsed and funded by the New Apostolic Reformation leadership, whose chief "apostle" is C. Peter Wagner. Chuck Pierce, Wagner's heir apparent, uses it to send messages to the NAR membership. --- Please consider ordering one of our products or making a donation. As always, you can see the DITC e-Newsletter archive here and sign up to receive this newsletter or unsubscribe there as well. |

Castles in the Sand
| by Carolyn Greene Reviewed by Books and Chocolate Castles in the Sand is "fiction with a message" that tells a composite story of how contemplative spirituality is impacting Christian colleges and universities, churches, and seminaries worldwide. While the book features fictional characters, it is based on the real life and teachings of Teresa of Avila which are embraced today in the Christian contemplative spirituality movement. The topic itself was of interest to me but this is also a well-written story with all the components of a good suspense novel that I read in one evening because I couldn't put it down. . . .Anyone who enjoys Christian suspense fiction will like this book, as will anyone who has questions about what is at the foundation of contemplative spirituality. I also think it is a good book for parents and students to read just to be aware of the ways contemplative spirituality may be represented on college campuses. Click here to read this book review! |

Impressions Ineffable . . .The Mysticism "Lite" of Rick Warren
|
by Pastor Larry DeBruyn, 4/19/11
For me, the idea of guidance through "impressions . . . ideas . . . hunches [and] gut feelings" is mystic. Rightly, Warren attempts to guard against mysticism by instructing his congregation to submit any impression to the question, "Does It Agree with the Bible?"[16] Yet the irony of Warren's guideline is that, when invesigated, the very biblical passages he claims support his proposal that God speaks to people through impressions do not teach what he says they teach; namely, that if people will work-up the right attitude and withdraw, wait, watch, write and worship, God will speak to them through impressions, ideas, hunches and gut feelings. In his book The Witness of the Spirit, Bernard Ramm (1916-1992) wrote half a century ago: "To isolate Scripture from the Spirit, or the Spirit from Scripture, is theologically mischievous."
