"Blasphemizing" The Bible by Sandy Simpson This DVD is a message based on this article.I am going to go over an article I wrote back in 2006 in preparation for the book I wrote with Mike Oppenheimer called "Idolatry in Their Hearts". This book is an apologetic against the false teachings of the World Christian Gathering on Indigenous People movement, the Emerging Church and the New Apostolic Reformation which got their ideas from the book "Eternity in Their Hearts" by Don Richardson. At the time that book came out no one really saw the dangerous ideas Richardson was promoting. All they would have had to do was look at the two subtitles of that book to understand the implications. The first subtitle in the 1981 edition read: The Untold Story of Christianity among Folk Religions of Ancient People. Those who read this book found some interesting cross-cultural ideas but apparently missed the false premise of the book starting with the subtitle. How could Christianity be "among folk religions" where the Gospel had not been preached (Rom. 10:14-15)? At that time Christians who read the book were apparently satisfied that, though there was some questionable material present, it made for an interesting discussion on how to do cross-cultural ministry. The subtitle it has today, which was first published in 1984, is as follows: Startling Evidence of Belief in the One True God in Hundreds of Cultures Throughout the World. This should have been a red flag for many Christians but then, who reads subtitles? But how could the "One True God" be known to Gentiles who, the Bible states, did "not know God".

Featured Discernment Ministry
Christian Witness Ministries (CWM) is committed to spreading the Bible based Gospel (Good News) of Christ and to maintaining "the faith which was once [for all] delivered unto the saints" - Jude 3.
With this mission in mind CWM , fearlessly identifies the teachers in the church who spread aberrant non-biblical teaching, their false works and utterances, that abound in our time. While we believe in the present day reality of the Holy Spirit and His work in and through the believer in the fruit and the gifts we are opposed to the Toronto Blessing and to the Pensacola and Revival Now type of movements, which we are convinced are not of God. In fact it is our conviction that these are part of the end time deceptions of which our Lord and the apostles warned. CWM is biblical in basis, evangelical in emphasis, and evangelistic in purpose. We endeavour to follow Paul the apostle's example in preaching the good news of Christ - "HIM we preach, WARNING every man and TEACHING every man in all wisdom, that we may PRESENT every man MATURE in Christ Jesus" - Colossians 1:28 to both Jews & Gentiles.

The Fresh Prince - Destined To Ruin
| by Lance Goodall CWM, 12/6/12
(Joseph) Prince is preaching a different Jesus, another gospel...and although he's articulate, charismatic, convincing, and preaching 'grace'; he is a blind leader of the blind, leading astray the unlearned and unstable. He is at best a false apostle, and at worst a conniving HERETIC! (2 Corinthians 11:12-15; 2 Peter 3:16).

Judge Not! ... and you will not be judged
|
by Philip Powell, CWM, 12/6/12
"Judge Not" or "Do Not Judge" is an often-quoted verse of the Bible - by Christians, pseudo-Christians and non-Christians alike. This is especially true in the today's neo-pagan, politically correct Western world, where "judge not" has been elevated to the status of the "golden rule". Similarly, the second half of the verse of Scripture, from which this phrase comes, seems to have been re-hashed into a "get out of jail free" card type idea. But does this verse, Matthew 7:1, say, or mean: "Do not judge AND you will not be judged"?

Falling Short ... Rick Warren
| by Mark Mullins, CWM, 12/6/12
Rick Warren is a challenge of our naivety as Christians. The Lord Himself warned us that the children of this world were wiser in their generation than the children of light (Luke 16:8). Rick Warren carries all the credentials of a sound evangelical and many Christians will look no further and simply welcome him into the fold. After all his father, grandfather and great great-grandfather (converted under Spurgeon apparently) were Baptist pastors. He plainly knows his Bible and can hold his own with the likes of John Piper in debate over doctrinal issues. However those evangelical credentials mask a much more sinister side to Rick Warren. The Lord Jesus also warned us to "beware of wolves in sheep's clothing". This article documents quotes by Rick Warren that demonstrate that he does not possess the virtues of integrity and humility which he himself extols and which are the hallmarks of a genuine Christian. Instead he is found to be untruthful and boastful. His global peace plan, while holding out humanitarian aims that cannot be faulted, involves a denial of The Gospel by making good works a point of unity in place of doctrine. This is further evidenced by his compromise over Islam where he is willing to concede that the God of Islam is the same God of the Bible in the face of the plain evidence that the God of Islam is no god at all. This is a man to stay well clear of.

Getting "Higher" On God
| by Larry DeBruyn, CWM, 12/6/12
The difference between the euphoria engendered by the mega church and the ecstasy by the rave church may well be only one of degree, not kind. A comparison might be made between smoking pot ("the euphoria lite" engendered by the mega church) and shooting heroin ("the ecstasy heavy" incited by the rave church). Mega churches have mastered a strategy of how to offer their congregants "lite" doses of experience (euphoria). The rave church has upped the ante by offering its participants "heavy" doses of experience (ecstasy). Neither movement evidences sober-mindedness, that spiritual attribute the New Testament enjoins believers to cultivate - Titus 2:2, 4, 6; 1 Peter 1:13; 4:7; 5:8. In fact, if the euphoria or ecstasy of so-called worship is induced by means other than by the Holy Spirit, then it violates Paul's injunction to "be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit", the manifestations of which - "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. Giving thanks always for all things to God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves to one another in the fear of God", bear no resemblance to those exhibited in "Sloshfesting" - Ephesians 5:18-21. Worship that masquerades as drunkenness in the Holy Ghost resembles more the wine bibbing of a bacchanal celebration than worship of the Holy God. Click here to read this article! |
